L&R Committee Meetings: Transportation

Due to the continued COVID-19 pandemic, MAT has scheduled the Fall 2020 Legislative & Research Committee meeting to be held via Zoom teleconference calls.

The L&R Transportation Subcommittee will meet on:

Tuesday, September 22, 2:00pm to 3:00pm

Pre-registration is required by September 14.
Please click Transportation Committee Registration to submit your name, township, county, and email. There is no cost to attend. We will send you the appropriate weblink and call-in information to participate.

These five subcommittees review, research, and recommend possible solutions or resolutions for legislative action related to their assigned issues. No motions passed or recommendations made at the subcommittees shall become official legislative initiatives until they are passed by the General L&R Committee and adopted by the MAT Board of Directors.

The specific agenda includes: Committee leadership elections, review and discussion of received resolutions, discuss 2020 Legislative session and the effects on the committee’s items, and discuss upcoming 2021 legislative session and top priorities for MAT.



About The Legislative & Research (L&R) Committee
The Legislative & Research (L&R) Committee is charged with developing, reviewing, and making recommendations for legislative efforts on behalf of townships. The purposes of the L&R Committee is to aid MAT in representing townships and their officials and in supporting the township form of government. The L&R Committee as a whole is called the General L&R Committee.  L&R Frequently Asked Questions

Submitted resolutions will be debated and voted on by the group in various committees. Please remember all resolutions must be submitted by September 3 to the MAT office to be considered. Here is a sample resolution form.

How to Participate
Each county with an organized township (a member of MAT) can appoint one voting member for each subcommittee (5 total). In any county in which there exists a county unit of townships, the appointed members are appointed by the county unit by the pre-registration deadline for the summer meeting. All appointments are for one year and there is no limit to the number of times a person may be appointed.

In addition to appointed members, any township official of a township that is a member of MAT may participate in any meeting of the General L&R Committee, or any of its subcommittees, and may vote on actions pending before the General L&R Committee. Only an appointed member to a subcommittee of the L&R or the appointed member’s properly designated alternate shall be eligible to vote whenever a vote is taken at a meeting of a General L&R subcommittee.

MAT REGISTRATION POLICY (for events with Pre-Registration)

Forms can be found in the MAT Township Insider magazine, on our website and in some MAT mailings.  Phone registrations are not accepted.

One registration form per person, unless otherwise noted.  Please make copies if you only have one form.  Multiple names on a single form may be returned to sender for additional forms to be completed.

Please submit the entire form.  Incomplete forms may be completed in our office based on your position and the information provided.  If there is not enough information to do so, you will be contacted and your registration may be delayed.

To qualify for pre-registration your form must be postmarked, submitted online or faxed by the stated deadline.  Registrations received after the deadline will be held and made available for completion at the event registration area, at the on-site rate.  This also applies to registrations received with the on-site fee included.

Payment is not required to pre-register; selecting the “bill to” option on forms received before the deadline allows you to take advantage of the pre-registration discount.

When registering by fax or online, please do not send payment until you receive an invoice.  Waiting for the invoice will ensure that payment is applied correctly, and that your registration will not be duplicated.

Disability accommodations and dietary food requirements must be requested by the date stated on the form.

Invoices can be paid at anytime, but they are due within 30 days after the event.  Take care to include the pink copy of the invoice with your remittance and be sure that it is sent to MAT’s PO Box of 267, not the Agency’s.

Refunds will be made to those that have mailed, faxed, or emailed a request within 30 days from the date of the event.  Fees will be refunded, less the stated processing fee.
